Welcome to Share Lawyers: What to Expect

In this video, we'll guide you through the next steps in your case after your intake interview.

At Share Lawyers, we work as a team. You've already spoken with our Intake Team, and now, your main contact will be our Client Services Team. They’ll assist you with documents, paper work, and guide you through each step.

You'll soon receive a Welcome Package, including a ‘Client Background Questionnaire.’ Some questions might seem repetitive, but this additional information is crucial for building a strong case. Please return the Questionnaire as soon as possible.

Next, let's cover two important topics:

#1 Canada Pension Plan Disability Benefits (text on screen): If applicable, you’ll receive information about CPP Disability Benefits from our office. Keep an eye out for that.

#2 Banking Information (text on screen): To prevent fraud and ensure secure fund transfers, we need your banking details at the start of your case. Please provide a void cheque or a completed direct deposit form. After we receive these, we’ll send a document for your electronic signature to confirm the information.

Our Next Steps: Our team is notifying relevant parties, including the insurance company and, if necessary, your employer. Once we receive the insurance company’s complete file, we’ll review it to start your formal lawsuit as soon as possible. We’ll send you a copy of the filed lawsuit and wait for a Statement of Defence from the Defendant’s counsel.

The next major step will be scheduling either a Discovery or a Mediation/Settlement Meeting. Our goal is to have a Mediation or Settlement Meeting within 10 to 12 months from the start of your lawsuit. If a Discovery is needed, we’ll try to schedule it well in advance, and you’ll have a call with the Discovery Lawyer attending to your discovery or mediation to prepare you thoroughly approximately two weeks ahead of the event.

While the legal process is detailed and time-consuming, we aim to settle your case without you ever having to step into a courtroom. Most cases settle at mediation or through negotiations between lawyers.

We hope this video answers your initial questions and helps you understand the process. As your case progresses, we’ll send you more information and videos to keep you informed. If you need any assistance in the meantime, don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

Thanks for watching. We look forward to working with you to resolve your case. If you have any questions, contact your Client Services Team at Share Lawyers. We’re here to help.
