Eligibility
Rules regarding eligibility depend on a number of factors, but primarily on the status of the particular Canadian Armed Forces member. CAF members in the Regular Force, Reserve Force or Class C service and Primary Reserve Force or Class A and B Service are eligible for SISIP LTD coverage.
Regular Force Members
- Covered if joined CAF before April 1, 1982 and applied for LTD coverage
- Covered if they joined CAF after April 1, 1982 automatically
Reserve Force Members
- Covered if members of Primary Reserve on Class A or B service of 180 days or less
- Covered if members of Primary Reserve on Class B service of more than 180 days, or on Class C service
How Much Are My Long Term Disability Benefits?
In general, for Canadian Armed Forces members, the long term disability benefit is 75% of salary, however calculation rules may differ depending on class of service, as some optional coverage is available for reserve members.
