What Are My Rights As A Disabled Individual?

Disability Benefits - Question 23
You need to find out if you have disability insurance through your employer. You may have short term disability coverage which will cover you for a percentage of your pre-disability income (perhaps 65% to 80%). The short term disability period will range from 3 months up to 5 months generally. After the end of the short term disability period, you may have group long term disability benefits. Long term disability insurance will provide benefits for a longer period – sometimes only 5 years but often up to a retirement age of 65 years of age as long as you continue to satisfy the definition of disability.
