Over the past 35 years, Share Lawyers has helped over 7,500 clients who have been denied their disability claim. One of the things that never fails to impress us is the conviction our clients have to be brave and take a stance against the insurance company. They do this while battling a disabling illness or injury. We feel it is our responsibility to share some of the things that inspire our community to be strong advocates for themselves and others with disabilities.

Family is a huge inspiration to those struggling with a disabling condition

“My mother inspires me. She fought such a hard battle with her cancer diagnosis, but she never gave up.” - Rachel

“Who inspires me is my family. My mother and father were amazing supporters of me in my journey. They helped me financially over this time. They didn’t judge me, they tried to do what they could to make my experience less hard.” - Allison

“My daughter has inspired me. She flew from out East to be with me when she heard I was unwell. She sat and listened to me and was my spokesperson at my doctor's appointment. She has taught me to stick up for myself and that I am worthy of being well.” - Olga

“I don't really have one person who inspires me. I have a list of people From all walks of life. The ones who make living life a priority disabled or not.” - Vivek

“Who inspires me is my husband, children and my best friend to keep on going. I will get better.” - Catherine

Doctors who have shown up for those who are unwell are a true inspiration!

“Other people who inspired me through this are my doctors. I’m blessed that I have a great medical support system & would not be here without them. I can’t believe I do not pay them, but they have been my biggest advocates. Constantly adjusting paperwork (when they are already busy & dealing with pandemic) to appease the insurance people. It was wild to go through that. - Allison

`“My Rheumatologist has provided me with so many great resources. I've joined classes at my local community center to keep me active.” - Roberto

"Someone that inspires me is Dr Ronald Abrahams. He was the head doctor at BC women’s hospital FIR clinic. It’s a safe zone for addicted mothers to have their babies and get on proper medications for their illness. He helps women get set up for success with their children. He doesn’t judge addicts. He helps us and we need more doctors like him. When a child is taken from his/her mother, the long term effects are terrible” - Jaelyn

Music and community resources can make a huge difference in inspiring action and wellness

“The resources that I've used that have helped me with my disability are the College of pharmacy here in Saskatchewan (they've helped a lot with making great recommendations for my meds cause I'm on so many different ones) as well as the pain management group at the college of pharmacy, they have some online classes and groups that have helped me understand how my mind deals with my body and to understand that I'm not alone in my pain and my frustration.” - Sandra
