Staff Anniversaries: Steven Muller
You may already know that 2017 is Share Lawyers’ 30 year anniversary - but some of our team members are celebrating milestones of their own! We want to celebrate our staff, especially those who have been an integral part of the Share Lawyers story thus far.
Four of our team members will be marking important anniversaries over the course of this year, and we look forward to sharing these with you over the coming weeks and months in our newsletter.
Steven Muller is our VP of Litigation and will be marking his 20th year anniversary with Share Lawyers this June! We talked to Steven about his time with us.
So Steven - 20 years have passed. Can you tell us a little bit about your beginnings at Share Lawyers?
In the beginning, I joined the firm to do Examination for Discovery work. I was about to get married. It was really hard at first. We had to work on building out the practice as a team. We had just moved into our current location at 3442 Yonge Street.
When you think about the clients you've worked with, what stands out?
Every client is a privilege to work with and a new adventure. I am fortunate to have met and worked with so many interesting people who have come from many different parts of the world with differing religions and beliefs.
What's something people need to know about Share Lawyers and the work we do here?
We are constantly pushing the envelope in long term-disability disputes. We work on some very complex cases and there are many firms who are trying to imitate us - they just do not have the knowledge base and experience in long-term disability disputes. As one client recently said to me: “You guys are the car dealer and everyone else are the used car salesman.”
Can you tell us about what you like to do when you're not working? It's Sunday afternoon - where are you and what are you doing?
I walk my dog for about an hour a day, both morning and night. I exercise - spinning, rowing, floor hockey, swimming and elliptical, about three to four days a week. I also like to garden. I enjoy the time I get to spend with my children and my wife, and I love to host our friends and family.
What do you hope for the next five years?
Well, let’s take it one week at a time!
