Family and friends can be great support systems, but it can be challenging to explain to them all the changes and experiences you are having. That’s why group therapy or moderated online forums for support can be a great resource. The Canadian Cancer Society can help you find a local support group. Wellspring is a network of resources for Cancer patients based in Ontario and Alberta which also offers online programs.

Private Therapy

This is a changing time in your life. Perhaps you need a little extra help while you navigate this experience? Consulting a therapist or psychologist, especially one that focuses in cognitive behavioural therapy might be the right choice for you.

Art or Music

It might seem like a strange time to take up a new hobby. But taking an art or music class can be a positive force for you during your time of treatment. Being able to focus on a new set of skills can be helpful in keeping your mind off your illness, stimulating your mind and body, and having fun! Consult your local community colleges, or check the internet for local listings of music instructors, or even just head to the arts supplies store and grab your materials of choice.
